Oral surgery may be required to diagnose or treat injuries and diseases in the mouth. Biopsies can determine the presence of oral cancer or tumors, which may then be surgically removed (excised). Tooth extractions prevent or treat damage caused by impacted wisdom teeth or crowding. Surgical contouring of the jaw or gum line can correct jaw alignment problems, TMJ, malocclusion ("bad bite") or other problems.
We can replace large, worn-out fillings with natural-looking, ceramic crowns. These state-of-the-art, high strength, metal-free crowns will restore dark teeth and eliminate lines at the gum line to provide a completely natural-looking appearance.
With new materials now available we can create beautiful results for:
- Spaces Between the Teeth (Diastemas)
- Unnatural Porcelain-to-Metal Crowns
- Dark Lines at the Gum Line of Crowns
- Broken or Chipped Teeth
|
- Unsightly, Stained or Washed-out Fillings
- Teeth Discolored by Old Fillings
- Misshapen or Crooked Teeth

Bridges are natural-looking tooth replacements which help maintain facial structure, reduce stress on the jaw and fill in the gaps caused by missing teeth. Fixed bridges are cemented to the existing teeth and do not come out. Removable bridges can be taken out and cleaned at home.
Patients who have lost their natural teeth due to decay, periodontal disease or injury can suffer from related problems including further decay, difficulty eating and speaking, and drooping of facial muscles. Full and partial dentures replace the missing teeth both aesthetically and functionally, providing support and restoring the smile. Full (complete) dentures are used when all of the natural teeth have been lost, while Partial Dentures fill in the gaps between natural teeth. The gums, dentures and any remaining natural teeth will need to be cleaned regularly to prevent staining, sores and plaque build-up.
Good oral hygiene - brushing and flossing daily - and a healthy diet are the best way to prevent plaque build-up in the mouth. But even the most thorough brushing does not always reach the deepest indentations in the back teeth (molars). Dental sealants fill in these depressions, preventing bacterial formation that causes tooth decay and other damage. In a procedure that takes only a few minutes per tooth, the dentist cleans the tooth, applies an acid solution to roughen the surface, and bonds a plastic sealant to the tooth. A special light may be used to speed the hardening process. Sealants can help both adults and children, and may be re-applied every few years.
Periodontal or gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It is a leading cause of tooth loss in American adults. It has also been linked to heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other health problems.
Plaque is the sticky film of bacteria that is brushed and flossed away with proper oral care. When left on the teeth, plaque produces toxins that attack below the gum line in the sulcus, a shallow v-shaped crevice between the tooth and gums. This causes the bond between teeth and gums to break down. In the early stage of gum disease (gingivitis), gums may become red and swollen and bleed easily. In the more advanced stage (periodontal disease), teeth can loosen and fall out.
Good oral hygiene and regular dental examinations are essential in the prevention and early detection of gum disease - especially since you can have it without experiencing any warning signs.
Endodontics is the diagnosis and treatment of problems with the inside of the teeth, including the soft tissue known as dental pulp. The most common endodontic procedure is Root Canal Therapy, although endodontists also perform procedures to correct cracked and split teeth, re-treat previous procedures that have not healed properly, and diagnose oral and facial pain.
Root canals are performed to save a tooth when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected due to decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, cracks, chips or other injuries. Endodontic surgery is helpful in a number of situations, including the diagnosis of fractures that are too small to appear on x-rays, the cleaning and sealing of calcified teeth, the extraction and replacement of damaged teeth ("intentional replantation"), and the removal or repair of bone or dental root. The most common of these last procedures is the apicoectomy or removal of the tip of the root.
As its name suggests, preventive dentistry is intended to prevent dental problems and related health conditions before they start. The health of your mouth is vital to the health of your entire body. Gum disease has been linked to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, low birth weight and other health problems. Healthy teeth are less likely to need extensive and pricey dental procedures. You can keep your teeth and yourself healthy by brushing and flossing every day as well as getting regular dental exams.
Dental appointments for children are important to evaluate the teeth and gums as well as to educate the young patient for a lifetime of dental hygiene. We will talk with you about your child's oral health and hygiene, including teething, fluoride, brushing and flossing, cavities, sealants and orthodontics.
